Grading Process

At Hobbie Grading Company, every card goes through a careful and consistent grading process to ensure quality and integrity from start to finish.

  1. Authentication
Each card is first reviewed for authenticity. We verify that the card is genuine and not altered, reprinted, or counterfeit. Cards that do not meet authenticity standards are returned ungraded.

  2. Grading
Once authenticated, cards are graded using a 10-point scale.

    • A Gem Mint 10 represents a nearly flawless card with sharp corners, clean edges, centered print, and no visible surface flaws.

    • Grades scale down based on wear, imperfections, and overall condition.

    • Cards that are authentic but do not meet grading requirements will receive an “A” for Authentic designation.
Note: We do not grade cards that have been autographed in person and are not officially certified by the card manufacturer.

  3. Label Creation
After grading, a label is created that includes the card's subgrades and final overall grade.

  4. Encapsulation
The card and label are securely sealed inside our high-quality slab, designed to both protect and display your collectible.

  5. Return Shipping
Once sealed, the card is carefully packaged and shipped back to you.

Our process is designed with collectors in mind—offering accuracy, consistency, and the individualized experience you deserve.
